This will probably get filled up pretty quickly. I really do miss blogging and should get back into doing it. Tho I might just use this place for food/weight/workout/ranting and continue to utilize my blog on myspace for my randomness.

So today is going to be a ranting journal. Hehehe ... fair warning! All this time I have been waiting and waiting for Joel to go get the Stairmaster from his moms house so I can use it over here. The Stairmaster technically belongs to his mothers friend, but she left it over there and it is just sitting in the back room never getting used. So Joel always put it off and put it off, saying to go get it when his mothers at work. so I have been telling him and been telling him that I am going to go get it TODAY! so I go get it, I come home, I vacuum the spot it is going in, I get it out of the car, I bring it inside and set it up and he is like "Oh, you didn't tell me you were going to get that." And I'm like "Yeah I did you idiot." So that's that, the kids have all been playing on it, getting their workout on. Joel has the nerve to tell me "Ok, its over here, now get on it." I was like "Uh, whatever, I think I got enough of a workout loading it in and out of the car by myself." SOOO my goal was to start with it tomorrow. Both of the boys will be gone to school and I will have some free time to myself to get my priorities back in line. okay so then I was laying on the couch helping Alyssa with her homework, Joel was on the computer, Tristan was napping, and Gavin was playing with his Lego's on the floor. All of a sudden his mom just bust in the front door, she was yelling that she had been ringing the doorbell but none of us heard it. She went straight to the bathroom and Joel panicked that she would see the Stairmaster (she walked right by it on her way to the bathroom) and actually made me cover the thing up with his jacket. I am like are you freaking serious!!! Then he told me that I had to explain it to his mom if she got mad about it. I was like fuck it, if it is going to be that big of an issue I will just take it back to her house tomorrow. He and I had already discussed us bringing it over here and its not like it was new news to him. So his mom comes out of the bathroom (walking right by it again - now half-ass covered in a black hooded jacket) and she asked him about it in Spanish, but she did not seem mad about it or anything like that. I swear to god he is such fucking idiot and I just want to slap him. So now I have it over here, I fully plan on starting some type of workout on it tomorrow, but today it was just like come the fuck on... you have got to be kidding me!
Oh and the Stairmaster is not a Stairmaster at all it is actually an elliptical machine, but that's fine with me, my ass needs the workout anyway it can get it. LOL

just so everyone knows, the elliptical machine did not even go 24 hours of being in the house before someone got hurt on it. this morning gavin was playing on it and somehow managed to peel the skin off of 2 of his fingers. one finger is worse than the other and it looks like it hurts like hell. overall its not too bad, it could have been much much worse. but he stayed home from school today because his hand hurts. GO FREAKING FIGURE!!!

So today I have been pretty disappointed in myself. I know I shouldn't be but I am. I got on the elliptical machine today planning on doing it for about 30 minutes or so, but that thing completely kicked my ass. I was huffing and puffing after only about 5 minutes and then I had to stop. Five minutes. Really. I was like Damn! I know I am not in the best of shape, but I carry a 32 pound 3 year old around, I can lug 10+ bags of groceries around by myself, and I cant even do the flipping elliptical for 5 minutes. I haven't worked out in quite a while, I was walking 2 miles when the weather was warmer, but I have even gotten out of the habit of that since it has gotten colder. I am really trying not to beat myself up, trying to tell myself that its okay, that I just have to gradually work my way back up to where I know I can be, but damn ... only 5 minutes!
The main problem that I really seemed to have was with my knees. after 5 minutes they are on fire and begging me to kill them. Joel (shockingly) was somewhat sympathetic telling me to give it a couple of weeks to build up my knee muscles. and I know he is right, I know it takes time. I did manage to figure out a compromise that I can at least be happy with until I can build up my endurance. I will do 1/4 of a mile, take a break, do another 1/4 of a mile, take a break, and so on until I do 2 miles. as I am able to do it without such a struggle I will adjust the distance and take less breaks. my goal is to be able to do it for 60 minutes. lol I have a long way to go!

I think that Joel has come down with a case of Daniel-itis. I am getting very mixed signals from him about my doing the elliptical machine. The first day two days I worked out on it he wasn't home, so this was the first day that he was present while I was working out on it. keep in mind that it is in our family room for the world to see. someone is always in the family room, it is where the kids toys are, where they watch TV, where the computer is and now where the elliptical is. I did my first mile this morning while he was sleeping on the couch so I don't even think he was aware that I had done that mile. My second mile I did this evening in between making dinner, bathing the boys, and taking him to work. Okay so I am climbing on the thing and he is sitting on the couch saying to me "Oh, Jennifer's gonna get her workout on and lose some weight and get all skinny." (not rudely, kinda playful-like). Then another time I am on it and he is like annoyed telling me "not to burn out my knees." The next time he walks by me and slaps me in the ass. I'm like WTF! Either you want me to work out or you don't and considering how he is always encouraging me to work out I don't see why he just wouldn't shut up and be supportive about it. But on a better note, I DID do a total of 2 miles throughout the day and it was a little easier today than it was the other day. LOL!
Today with my food I splurged a little but that's okay. I don't want to be depriving myself. The mini chocolate covered donuts where a big surprise, I'm surprised that I only ate 2, normal I could eat like 10! but I told myself I could have 3 and that was it, while I was on donut #2 I realized that they are 290 calories for 3!!! I was like holy fucking A, and didn't eat anymore! The tamales and fried eggs were sooo good, I used Pam spray in the pan to fry the eggs, but I did feel a little guilty eating them. The chicken salad pita filled me up, and I was thinking I was too full to eat dinner, but I did eventually get hungry (all that time on the elliptical, maybe) and ate some of what I had cooked for the kids. I felt really guilty about the Dr. Pepper, but I love them so much and like I said I don't want to deprive myself, but is only 150 calories, which I thought it would be more, and I didn't even finish the can, so I can see indulging in one sometimes. I have been craving watermelon and was planning on having it after dinner as a snack, but I am so full from the water that I have been drinking that I don't know if I will even eat it. I am proud of myself for drinking so much water btw. It is something I needed to do a long time ago.
PS sorry if i am just kinda rambling, but that is the point of me having this journal right? lol

so yesterday was a pretty blah day for me. I feel like the only thing I did was sleep and eat. well that is the only thing I did yesterday. I ate and ate and ate and napped and napped and napped, and then went to bed early. I was miserable from heartburn and indigestion too. I did not workout at all yesterday, but I wanted to. I kept telling myself "I need to get up and do the elliptical" "Get up and do the elliptical" which turned into "at least do the weights", but I just never did it. I did drink lots of water yesterday so I feel proud of myself for at least doing that.
I have decided that I (and my kids) will not be allowed to drink any sodas during the week, but that on the weekends we will be allowed one per day. (and to clarify to the kids - and I did have to clarify - the weekend will be from 5pm Friday until 7pm on Sunday, so in that timeframe we will be allowed one soda per day.) I have also decided that during the week I will try my hardest to get one mile of the elliptical done between the time I take Alyssa to school at 7:45 and when Gavin and Tristan goes to school at 9:15, then I will try to get another mile in before 2 when I get the boys, and do the weights in the evenings once the kids are in bed. of course this is all subject to change and I am sure that circumstances will arise that prevent this schedule on occasion, but this is my goal and I am going to try really hard to stick to it starting on Monday.

how long does it take to do a mile on the eliptical? it takes me about 15 minutes to do .5 mile on the treadmill...walking a a pretty fast pace and I'm out of breath when the .5 mile is done good for you on the soda rule! I can hardly believe how much less sweet tea I am drinking because of all the water LOL not wanting to sound like a broken record...but muscles need a break between weights routines...at least 2 days between...so we should only do weight about 3 times a week... the wii is always telling me to not push myself too hard...guess she is rubbing off on me

I thought of it all by my lonesome! and yes ma'am about the weight training. i was actually thinking of doing certain sets on like Mon, Wed, Fri, and then something different on Tues, Thurs. That is what joel does with his weights, it gives the muscles you used a chance to heal while you work out something else. so we will see how it goes. maybe 3 days a week i can do the pilates and work my legs, thighs, and butt, and the other days i can do the arms. we will see, it will all work out. but thanks for the advice! *btw, when joel works out he uses two 80 pound dumbells. yeah you heard me right 80 freaking pounds. and he does them at the same time. he basically does the same routine we are doing, but with 80 pounds each!!! and i am struggling with my 2 pound weights! LMAO!

I know that I have heard you guys talk about rewards for yourselves. I have been thinking what I could possibly get myself as a reward, something that I would not normally get for myself. so I have decided that I will be rewarded with trips to the spa and new tattoos. I am long over due for a massage or even a pedicure! and there are a couple of tattoos that I have been wanting to get. I'm sure that once I start to lose some weight and start to feel all super hott and sexy I will be wanting to get (and show off) my new tattoos!
so today I was pretty happy with myself food wise. especially after feeling like I had a gorge-fest the day before. I think I managed to eat pretty sensibly. I think I made some pretty good choices with only eating one chocolate covered donut when I could have easily eaten the entire contents of the bag. and when all the kids had a bowl of ice cream after lunch I managed to resist and only have a spoonful of Tristan's bowl. and this evening I so wanted to go get myself a bowl of rocky road, but instead I had a banana.
I did not work out today, so that makes two days in a row, but I am okay with that. I did clean house today pretty intensely and I sweated up a storm mopping the kitchen. and I did walk around the grocery store for an hour, so that counts for something.
I know that tomorrow is going to be a trying day since it is Super Bowl Sunday. We are cooking a brisket overnight and I am planning to make some broccoli and rice to go with it, plus the chips and dips that we have planned. so I know I will be feasting good tomorrow. not to mention the booze that I plan on consuming during the game or the New Orleans Saints themed cupcakes that I bought at the grocery store today! (for the kids of course lol)
